Sunday Seven - 7 Things About StacyMac

Today starts a weekly series I am calling Sunday Seven. Each Sunday I will post 7 Facts/Statements on topics that are close to my heart…or just random topics that I have pulled from my random thoughts!

This week, in the interest of being transparent and authentic on this blog, I’m posting 7 Things About Me…things that my friends know, my Facebook followers may know some, but most people may not know some or all of these things. I hope you enjoy Sunday Seven.

Here we go…

Mmmm....

Mmmm....

1.) I figure I will get the one that is going to garner the most ridicule out of the way first! If I have my choice of candies…I will choose the sour/sugary/hard candies over chocolate any day (that’s not true…certain times of the lunar month I want chocolate and peanut butter, but only those times. TMI?).  I think I have always been this way (remember Pixie Stix…oh, I swoon!). Give me Smarties, Hot Tamales, SweeTarts, Skittles…I will take them all. This is a very difficult idea for The Rocket Scientist to grapple with as he is a CHOCOHOLIC extraordinaire. I’ve been told I’m a heathen because I don’t eat dark chocolate and I prefer white wine. Oh well…heathen it is!

2.) I am an only child. Yep…just one kiddo in my biological family. I loved growing up as an Only. There are certainly pros and cons, but there are far more pluses. The only times I have ever had a smidge of regret that I don’t have siblings are when I realize don’t have nieces and nephews on my own family line (because, if you talk to my friends with young kiddos, I am an AWESOME surrogate Aunt!). The Rocket Scientist has 3 other siblings, so we have nieces and nephews on his side of the family back in Michigan…but I’m sure you know what I mean.

3.) Hold on to your hat for this one…I am actually a closet introvert! I know that is so hard for people who know me to believe. However, it’s true…I can be painfully shy and uncomfortable in crowds and/or new situations. I don’t like it at all. I have dealt with more ‘purging’ moments from the nerves than I care to recount (once again…TMI?). When I went to the Click Away Conference a few weeks back I was a wreck – and it was so high school! I was so worried I wouldn’t meet anyone – or worse – I would meet them and they wouldn’t like me. One of my close friends said, “You’re Stacy Freakin’ Mac, they will love you and you will have 100 new friends before the first day is over.” Well, that didn’t happen, but I did make some very sweet new friends who share the same passions and love as I do…and they are all funny as heck! I do get past this issue…eventually…once I am in the situation and have met one or two people then I come out of my shell.

4.) This one is pretty easy if you know me even a little bit. I like coffee. No, I LOVE coffee. Adore it. It is a part of my day – every day. I choose coffee over food in the morning…at least for a few hours. I like it with cream, Italian Sweet Cream is my current favorite at home flavor.  Additionally, I have some favorite mugs that help kick my day off properly. I hold a gold card at Starbucks (along with a good portion of the world coffee drinking population!) and my favorite drink there is usually a Hazelnut Macchiato or a Vanilla Latte.

5.) Another no brainer for anyone who spends just a little time with me…Pink is my favorite color. It has not always been that way – blue and purple took my heart for most of my life. My poor mom…she had to wait until I was 30+ years old before she had a girly girl for a daughter! And, lest you think I went totally bows and ruffles at middle-age, I still want power tools…in pink! Throw in a little glitter with my pink and, well, I’m in HEAVEN!

6.) Every October I wear pink, every day, no matter what. It might not be super noticeable, but it is always able to be seen (i.e. I don’t just wear pink undies. TMI, again?). I have done this for well over 10 years. Too many of my friends were diagnosed, and some taken from us, far too early in my life for me to not show support for Breast Cancer Awareness month. For the past several years I have invested in the Power of Pink collection from Brighton. I have a big supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and participate (even if it is Sleeping In for The Cure) every year in our local walk in the Spring – and have been Team Captain several times. (More on this in next week’s Sunday Sevens.)

7.) And last, but not least, I am a creative. Not that you didn’t already know that from this very blog. I love making all sorts of stuff. I hate limiting myself to one creative form – that doesn’t fit with who I am. That is why you will see a lot of different things on this site. Now, I really love sewing. However, right now I’m also into soap making and stamped jewelry. I want to play with those for a bit too. In my sewing, I love making nursery items and would like to hone my skills in bag making. That is what I want to do for my business. I love photography – but I’m still trying to figure out what I want to shoot. Of late I am drawn to animals and landscapes. I suffer from vicious bouts of zero confidence…but I’m trying really hard to push through those. After all…perfection is overrated! So…that is this new adventure I’m on as a creative – trying out life in the maker world!

And there you have it…the first of the Sunday Seven. I’m trying to not miss a Sunday post – so you will see these each Sunday. Sometimes they will be about me, my likes, my family (still have to make certain they are all on board with that!), social things and concerns I’m passionate about.

Until next week’s Sunday Seven…adeu!
